Night Place is a photographic series captured at rural gas stations across the United States after dark. The compositions are illuminated exclusively by the ambient glow of the overhead canopies, framing only pavement markings and void-black sky. By deliberately excluding the gas stations themselves from the frame, the project strips away the traditional context of place. The work is a critique on the gas station's status as a romanticized icon of American photographic history, as well as a decaying object at odds with the future of the environment.
